A Wilder Way to Care for Nature
Most gardens are curated: neat, ornamental, controlled.
But at Wilder Gardens, we believe nature thrives when it’s a little wilder: growing through cracks in the pavement and carried on the joy of communities.
At the Bristol Festival of Nature, we looked West and found our North Star.
Here, nature isn’t a day trip, it’s an everyday, messy, beautiful part of neighbourhood life.
We met people planning pond digs on WhatsApp, sharing compost heaps, planting pollinator patches, and asking:
“How do I rewild my garden?”
“Can I register a Neighbourhood Nature Reserve?”
Yes. You can.
And we’re here to help.
Wilder Gardens connects people, patches, and purpose — from shared verges to borrowed borders. Starting where we are, with what we’ve got.
Now we’re piloting a plan to inspire the people of Bristol to install 10 new ponds in 10 neighbourhoods. Proof that rewilding doesn’t need permission or perfection! A washing-up bowl is a great start.
To Be More Bristol Is To:
Reimagine what’s possible on your patch
Dig a pond — even the most makeshift makes a big difference.
Welcome difference — in species and stories
Celebrate the wild, woolly, and wonderful
Listen to kids and elders — both hold vital knowledge
Let’s grow it at the heart of where we live.
Let’s Be More Bristol.
Let’s Be Wilder, Together.
